Recent and Upcoming Events… Changed Lives

“I have taken care of her since her head was like this….”
With her hands, the elderly lady showed us the size of a newborn’s head. She was no longer able to care for her granddaughter – now a pre-teen – whose mother died when she was three months old and father abandoned her a short time later, never to see her again.

This beautiful child is now safe from the sex slave trade – and in the care of Remember Nhu.

“We have no way financial means of supporting the children under our care.”

These were the pastor’s words to one of our Housemothers. The pastor contacted us after the Lord opened another Children’s Home through Remember Nhu in an unnamed country.

“I want my space!”

These are the words a little girl heard frequently from her older sister, the only family she had left after both parents abandoned them. Because her sister didn’t like the responsibility of caring for her younger sister, she was often kicked out of the house and forced to sleep on city streets.

The Lord opened another Remember Nhu Children’s Home in the Philippines, and Remember Nhu has become the little sister’s new family.

His mom has nine children…

He is the youngest of nine siblings. His father and two of his older siblings have been killed by gunshot; his mother is unable to care for him.

Remember Nhu has opened a home for at risk boys in Thailand. Joy – their Housemother – cares for boys like this at our new Boys Home.

Our Missionaries
The McCombs have returned home to Thailand after a two -month fundraising trip in the United States. Michael’s duties within Remember Nhu are increasing. In addition to working with the girls, Elsie is also focusing on homeschooling their sons Justin and Jared.

Rick and Kerry Hallyburton are enjoying their time working with short-term teams and construction projects on both properties. Their children have adjusted to their new home very well. Micah is in school and Audrey enjoys playing with her Asian sisters.

Carl, Laurie and Nhu Ralston will soon be returning to Asia after speaking in the US for two months at churches, schools, Bible studies, and home groups. Brian and Beth Woods joined Remember Nhu in July. Brian was with Remember Nhu in 2010 for a month. During that time, Beth was with a different ministry in Chiang Mai and visited Remember Nhu. After their short return to the US, they both felt the Lord calling them to work with Remember Nhu full-time. They will be setting up self-sustainable farming on the new property.

Future Remember Nhu Missionaries
Peter and Cali Ledger (OH) and Michael and Margie Figueros (OR) are raising funds for personal support. These couples will be joining Remember Nhu in Asia soon.

Remember Nhu House Parents
Sok Nari, our Housemother in Cambodia, has retired due to health issues. Her daughter Naomi is taking care of her. Please pray for Sok Nari’s health.

Our new Housemother, Ing, has been working as a helper in the home for a year. Ing is great with the children and they do very well with her authority. Please pray for Ing in her new position.

Meetings were recently conducted in Thailand discussing potential House Parents for Mongolia. Please pray as we seek to have a Children’s Home for at risk children in Mongolia.

Carl recently visited Gambia. At-risk children were located and interviewed. Meetings were also held with potential House Parents. We anticipate a Home for boys and a Home for girls to open soon.

Remember Nhu Board Meetings
Members will meet Oct. 31- Nov. 2 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Praises, praises, praises…
Praise to Him who has brought many new children who were at risk to their new Remember Nhu homes where they are now safe!

Praise to Him who opened additional homes in the Philippines and an unnamed country! Praise to Him who, Lord willing, will be opening additional Children’s Homes shortly! Praise to Him who has blessed Remember Nhu with many short-term mission teams and interns who visited us in Thailand and Cambodia. We have more teams scheduled. Some of these teams will do VBS; community outreaches or work projects to the properties, while others will spend time with the children. For some team members, this will be their first time on a mission trip! The Promised Land is in sight! The Lord moved upon churches, organizations and people’s hearts to give. Funds were raised and wired. On July 7, 2011 deeds were signed for the purchase of The Promise Land – and of course , a time of celebration that involved all who were there the next day! The electric and water are now being installed on the property. Remember Nhu has located the potential sites for the locations of the Children’s Homes. “The Exchanged Life” and “3 Mary’s” Our House Parents, helpers, interns, Nhu and the Ralstons were blessed to have Dr. John David Geib visit Chiang Mai for 2 ½ months as he joined us for an insightful time of teaching “The Exchanged Life.” The girls were delighted at his teaching on Sunday mornings on “The 3 Mary’s.” House father Ton did an excellent job translating these sessions.
